Our Guidelines and Rules
Welcome to Darkness Embraced and thank you for taking the time to read through our guidelines. It is important that you know what is expected of you before you enter this community. Darkness Embraced will be moderated but is mostly an open forum in which you, the users, control the content. Therefore, the users will set the tone of the site. To make this experience fun as well as educational, we encourage our members to be supportive and positive. Like any community, Darkness Embraced will flourish only when our members feel welcome and safe. Therefore, we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to hate speech and harassing others. As we teach our children time and again, please treat others the way you wish to be treated. By using Darkness Embraced, you agree to the following terms:
- You will use respectful language. Hate speech will not be tolerated. Please refrain from using language that abuses or discriminates on the basis of race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual preference, age, region, disability, etc.
- You will be courteous. You agree that you will not threaten or verbally abuse other members, use defamatory language, or deliberately disrupt discussions with repetitive messages, meaningless messages or "spam."
- Debate, but don't attack. In a community full of opinions and preferences, people are bound to disagree. Darkness Embraced encourages active and healthy discussions on our forums. But please avoid personal attacks, mean-spirited gossip about another member and do not "stalk" a member to another thread to continue a heated discussion.
- You are solely responsible for the content of your messages. Darkness Embraced does not and cannot review every message posted by you on the message boards. However, Darkness Embraced reserves the right to delete, move, or edit messages that, in its sole discretion, it deems abusive, defamatory, obscene, in violation of copyright or trademark laws, or are otherwise unacceptable. Darkness Embraced also reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disallow the use of a particular screen name, or to terminate any user's posting privileges at any time.
- Please use caution when sharing personal information with anyone you do not know and have not met. Also use caution if you choose to meet members in person. Choose a public place for the initial meeting. We intend to provide a safe environment for our members but we also encourage you to be guarded in the amount of information you share about yourself.
- You agree not to post any political content. This could offend members who may belong or support a party, campaign, or agenda not aligned with your ideas.
- You agree that any submissions you make (commentary, photographs, videos) may be edited, removed, modified, published, transmitted, displayed, or used in any other way by Darkness Embraced and its licensees in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter devised.
- You will not disclose your sexual preferences. You agree not to post your sexual preferences on your profile or other areas of the site. Darkness Embraced is not a dating service nor do we want it to be interpreted or abused as such.
- You may not post information or links that are sexually explicit or pornographic on this site.
- You will use this site at your own risk. Darkness Embraced does not endorse and is not responsible for any viewpoints, discussions or advice posted by its members or by third-party links. Darkness Embraced is also not responsible for false information posted on the site.
- Darkness Embraced may change, add, or remove portions of these guidelines at any time.
- Registration and security: As part of the registration process, you will select a password and a log in (your email address). You also have to give us certain registration information, all of which must be accurate and updated. (a) You may not (i) select or use a member log in of another person with the intent to impersonate that person; (ii) use a member log in which another person has rights without such person's authorization; or (iii) use a member log in that Darkness Embraced, in its sole discretion, deems offensive. Discussions Concerning Real Vampirism
Darkness Embraced respects the diversity within our shared communities, but with that said; please understand we do have a threshold. We know that we cannot be all things to all people, and to try as hard as one might, no one can, nor should anyone be expected to be. We are willing to bend to accommodate different schools of thought and practices even if we may not necessarily agree, but we will draw the line when it comes to anything that we may deem harmful, illegal, or dangerous.
The following is considered a false presentation of vampirism and not permitted:
- Physical Immortality - Any claims of being "undead", non-human (vampire or otherwise), immortal, having no heart rate, or any rubbish that you are hundreds of years old.
- Turned (aka Infected/Sired/Embraced) Concept - Any claims of becoming a vampire attributed to (1.) being bitten from another vampire (2) from drinking the blood of a vampire (3) a virus such as V-5 (which by the way, was stolen from a plot from a Sci-fi movie called Ultra Violet), (4) demons/entity/ghost/vampire has possessed you and you are now a vampire.
- Biting – Any conversation about biting another person or an animal for the consumption of blood. This unacceptable act is illegal in many states and countries. It can be seen as an assault or inhumane and place you behind bars for quite some time.
- Mythological Traits – Ancestral claims to being one of the “ancients” or fictional characters such as lillith, Lestat, Akasha, Vlad, - Eyes turning black/red/white – elongated fangs, etc.
- Minor Manipulation - Any adult member found contacting any member under the age of 18 on this site with sexual commentary, request of sexual/blood exchange, secret meet-ups, will not only face termination on this site, but be reported to the proper law authorities as well.
Topics on Blood Exchange/Donors - In order to discuss matters of blood drinking, blood exchange, or donor relationships, you must be 18 or older, and request access to the sanguine areas.
Discussions Concerning Otherkin
Otherkin discussion was once an aspect of Darkness Embraced but later removed. We no longer possess the staff to support otherkin discussions that occur and are not comfortable with moderating areas that we are not familiar with. We are all vampire, witch or pagan, none are otherkin. If we do not understand it, we have no business trying to moderate it. If we cannot moderate it, you cannot post it. If you post it, we will delete it.
There are plenty of other informative sites out there on otherkin and we suggest that you seek one of them out if that is what you wish to discuss.
Consequences for Breaking the Rules:
Each report or violation will be considered on a case by case basis. Any decision that is made will be confidential and not discussed publicly on the forums. A user will be informed of wrongdoing either by email or private message from the editor of the site. But in general, here are the consequences for breaking the rules:
- First offense: written warning.
- Second offense: 10 day suspension.
- Third offense: removed from the site.
