General Spirituality (16)

What is spirituality?

Spirituality is not religion and is not even necessarily affiliated with religion. While the definition of spirituality is different for everyone, here are some common themes associated with spirituality:

  • The idea of a process or journey of self-discovery and of learning not only who you are, but who you want to be.
  • The challenge of reaching beyond your current limits. This can include keeping an open mind, questioning current beliefs, or trying to better understand others' beliefs.
  • A connectedness to yourself and to others. Spirituality is personal, but it is also rooted in being connected with others and with the world around you. This connection can facilitate you finding "your place in the world."
  • Meaning, purpose, and direction. Spirituality, while it doesn't necessarily solve or reach conclusions, often embraces the concept of searching and moving forward in the direction of meaning, purpose, and direction for your life.
  • A higher power, whether rooted in a religion, nature, or some kind of unknown essence.

On Those Seasons of Renewal

Published in General Spirituality Written by WD Allan

There are certain times of the year that tend to bring about very warm feelings of affection as well as eliciting feelings of a true inner love between so many people. Some do so adore the winter time, some certainly relish in the color and the crisp season of autumn.

Avalon Still Exists Within the Heartfelt Spirit

Published in General Spirituality Written by WD Allan

Avalon, there is a word that always enamors the most wonderful of visions no matter what culture one hails from in this world. The legend of the Isle where Arthur found his rest, the Isle where Joseph of Arimathaea was supposed to have visited and perhaps deposited the Holy Grail, the cup that Christ used in the last supper. The Isle where the Lady of the Lake still is supposed to send aloft calls to those who dream of forlorn visions of chivalry and knighthood. Avalon, that place where all of the worlds creative energies intersect skewing ley-lines abound pure and reenergized.

Spiritual Inertia: The Force that is YOU!

Published in General Spirituality Written by WD Allan

There is a spiritual "inertia" to the energy of the formation of the self that exhibits itself regardless of ones attention to any of its details. From moment to moment, from vision to lifetime, when you set a thought to a decision, and then that decision is set into concrete action, a state of "BE-ing" is invariably the inevitable result. The big question is; what state of being do you seek in your experience of life and how do you direct this state of being?

Isn't it fascinating how many of our fellows throughout humankind tend to remand their own creativeness almost entirely to the matters of divine forces that in their minds guide them in blind fashions along the many paths of ones life?

The Darkness Along the Journey

Published in General Spirituality Written by WD Allan

The conscious mind moves far beyond the body and is virtually limitless in what and where it can reach, what places limitations on ones ability to both sense and reach outside of oneself is simply and more precisely, only, the limits one places upon themselves by the constructs formed into granite in the mind, in the soul.

Never in the hearts of most persons, does the wish ever really diminish to be able to gaze into some object, crystal, mirror, stone or stalwart card and gander at some part of what was, is and just might be. In most circles of the world there does seem to be the innate knowing of some sense beyond that of the tactile fingers touch or the nose scent of a room or place, at least in the souls of some within the circles. Does there exist within everyone the knowledge of the truest nature of our senses?

The Shift of the Spirit

Published in General Spirituality Written by WD Allan

As of late it seems that regardless of the motive or ones true inward intent, and/or the stars and the moon in the sky, much attention is reaching the surface of conversation over the shifting of the spirit and the energy of life itself.

Have you ever felt that internal pull, that pull that tugs at your soul? Even more, do you often find yourself trying to investigate the source of this pull? Does this investigation result in either learning more about yourself, or even researching the tangible in order to find way to the intangible? Do you feel spiritually withdrawn if you refuse to do any of this as a result of this pull? Does this pull in some ways seem draining if you do not pursue the source of the pull?

A Train of Choices

Published in General Spirituality Written by WD Allan

You are using all of life-all of many lives-to be and decide who you really are; to choose and to create who you really are; to experience and to fulfill your current idea about yourself. You are in an eternal moment of self creation and self fulfillment through the process of self expression. You have drawn the people, events, and circumstances of your life to you as tools with which to fashion the Grandest Version of the Greatest Vision you ever had about yourself.
