I would like to take a moment and welcome you all to the new version of Darkness Embraced. We are very excited about the new site and hope that you will be as well. If you were a member from the old site, you will have to sign up for a new account.
I understand that some of you may feel quite frustrated that so much of your input has been lost, and for that, I do sincerely apologize. I tried everything I could to merge the two systems, but failed at various attempts. My only option was to begin from scratch. It was inevitable and I knew that I would have to do it eventually. The CMS that I was using has pretty much fallen to the wayside with any further development. Their answer to everything was to upgrade to their newest version. However, if I had done that, approving members would not be an option available to us. Many of the features we used daily would have also not been compliant with their new version. Basically we would have been stuck with word press capability and that would have been it. No gallery, no fiction writings, no birthdays, books, or any of the other things that made DE fun.

“A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices.” - William James, 1842-1910
I can without much uncertainty state that a great plethora of my own prejudices in support of the broad thinkers and the great debaters that I personally have come to admire in and throughout this vast community is due to the ability of many who veil themselves with the label of Vampyre, tend to also be cogent and valued thinkers in their own right. Not in any attempt to place one body of people outside the family of mankind or the realm of other thinkers in the world in any way.

Delving into the Darkness |

Darkness is a frequently used descriptor, often times befitting the more surreal or the deeper and intimately the most private parts of ones soul, where few if any ever get the chance to glance let alone make any mental record of. This is an area of someone’s spirit that for the most part resides in a place that only one person could understand, the holder of the key to that case, that spiritual vault. Darkness being that vague term that it can so be to so many people, here in this sense it simply refers to that metaphoric place of privacy that is so intimate and so carved into the stone of ones experience, that only the one that is you could possibly understand what truly crafted its visage to begin with, no one else.

With the advent of such movies as Underworld & Underworld: Evolution, the people outside of our community again seem to think that we must obviously be fighting some unending war against the werewolves. The reality however is again, nothing like fiction, but there are those within the community who continually perpetrate this story. The idea that because vampires take energy or blood, and thus life from donors and others means that we are inherently at odds with werewolves who love life and nature. Take it from someone who is a psi and spends every night with a wolf therian, while we both enjoy our play fighting, we're not at war, or the Romeo and Juliet of the therian/vampire otherkin community. Wolf therians are not guardians of life, nature, or Gaia, anyone who tells you that needs to put down their Werewolf Players Guide from White Wolf. |

2012 The Time for Reintroduction |

A lot of time and effort have produced an abundant body of different thoughts and various viewpoints either by type or in film in these common days regarding the coming year 2012 and what’s expected to accompany it in the lives of people and for our world. Science also has certainly chimed in regarding certain galactic “coincidences” that seem to affirm many of the ancient prophetic visions of various cultures from the Maya’s strikingly accurate calendar of the Americas, and references to the Celtic lore of Myrrdinn as well as some writings in as far east as China all spanning a profound dateline of cultures that indicate a series of what’s been described as mere coincidences on the part of some of the interpreters while leaving many others to the surety of their minds conclusions. |
