Title: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: Requiem on March 19, 2008, 02:22:45 AM (Just for the record...I don't usually use the term "heebie-jeebies.") lol
Has anyone else out there just found something in horror movies that grosses you out? Makes you want to leave the room, covering your ears and closing your eyes? Those great once in a while, full body shiver, sticks with you for days kind of cinematic situations? I've noticed I have some... For instance...Zombies and cannibalism. I know it sounds goofy (since it's not "real") but I am terrified of zombies. Just the idea of being eaten alive is disturbing, but when you're attackers have familure faces? It just creeps me out. (And I, for one, don't find it fair that in newer zombie movies, they're quick. It moves survival chances down to nearly nothing.) Tendon slicing is another one. I've seen it in Pet Semetary. (The demonic little boy Gage attacking his neighbor.) I've seen in in one of the Urban Legends films too...and it is like my visual stimulation of nails on a chalkboard. I can't stand watching it in movies, or hearing it. It just grosses me out for some odd reason. Killer dolls and/or clowns/mimes. One of the main reasons I have as of yet to see Dead Silence. I don't think I have the iron will to see killer dolls on the rampage. (Which I think stems to my being allowed to watch The Tommyknockers when I was really young.) Chucky terrified me when I was little, and just to add to the terror I was in, my parents bought me a doll which looked just like him. Clowns and mimes, well, they may not be the most offensive creatures in the world. But once again watching IT with my sisters clenched me yet another phobia. I really haven't seen a mime based horror film...but they're only one small step away from being clowns. Lol Love, Z Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: Wilhelm on March 19, 2008, 02:38:49 AM I kind of have the same thing with movies about possession. Movies like "the Exorcist" or "The excorcism(spll?) of Emily Rose" just scare the hell out of me.
The idea of having a bunch of foreign entities in my body making a mess out of it and throwing up all over my sheets...EEK! Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: zaladin on March 19, 2008, 07:33:57 AM Ugh! The same for me. Any kind of cutting, or dismemberment (follwed by the shrill screams) sends my fingers to the remote pronto!!!!!

It is a zombie movie but truly campy and may actually be a good bit of therapy for your zombie phobia. I can't help you with the other things sadly. Clowns are just plain out creepy and as for posession...once you've seen the real deal the movies really don't scare you that bad...but knowing that kinda stuff is out there sure does!
*grabs them both and hides with them under the blanket in the dungeon closet* We'll be safe here...Nybs will protect us! Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: kitty27 on March 19, 2008, 12:11:06 PM I hate zombies. They are disgusting and the thought of something tearing at my tender flesh frightens me!
I cannot stand CGI characters such as Scooby Doo. That dog looks frightful and I can't abide it. Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: tigersheart on March 19, 2008, 12:33:32 PM Actually nothing has done that to me yet...the closest thing was the movies 'final destination' it did not scare me, but was a good mind bender. Afterwards I was constantly thinking...hmmm if I push this spoon off the table, then it will hit the dog, who will run away knocking over the lamp, causing a fire because of the cord, which then turns on the fire control system which then electrocutes me!
But other than that, nothing in horror movies really get me, though I will say I would not like to die like many of them do...way to painful :P Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: Janine18 on March 19, 2008, 01:09:22 PM I hate the sound of bones breaking...for some reason it just turns my stomach.
Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: carinoh on March 19, 2008, 01:39:28 PM I'm still haunted by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the 2003 remake. Even R. Lee Emery's spitting was gory! Yet, it's on my shopping list! :yesnod:
Anyone else haunted by it? Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: Sybilla on March 19, 2008, 02:03:43 PM I don't know why I am so horrified by this but any movie where someone is missing all their limbs just totally does me in and I have trouble watching it. "Boxing Helena", I could only watch once (and barely that).

I`ve just seen a doc about the acid bath murderer...Lets just say that I dont think fiction can ever rival the sickest minds that ever walked this planet...Reality is far scarier. Kind regards, Wilhelm Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: Requiem on March 20, 2008, 12:11:00 AM Although I really dont like movies about possession, I do believe documentaries about real murders can be far worse. Kind regards, Wilhelm Too true Wilhelm. That's why my parents wouldn't let me get scary movies, or even bring them into their house that were over that "line." I think the ones I was prohibited from included "Masks of Death," "Gacy," and the "Candyman." Still haven't seen any of them to date. Love, Z Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: Laurentz on March 20, 2008, 12:20:37 AM Mutant birth; like in the movie "It's Alive"...just gross!
Hannibal Lecter feeding a man his own excised brain, both weirdly fascinated me and sort of disgusted me a little. Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: Requiem on March 23, 2008, 11:38:01 PM Thought of another scene that really freaked me out. I can't exactly remember the movie, but there's one I remember this guy was being skinned alive? Disgusting and horrific.

Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: LostSiren on March 25, 2008, 12:45:47 AM I can watch the "slice and' dice" movies all day long, doesn't bother me one bit but what I cringe at is when huge bugs or something similar, comes slithering out of their mouth, eyes and ears....oh hell no with that!!!
There is one thing in the slice and' dice section that does kind of bother me, that's when they poke sharp items into eyes...that's a little gross...but those critters that eat from the inside then slither out....all creepy crawly...eww. :o Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: carinoh on April 02, 2008, 06:52:37 PM I can watch the "slice and' dice" movies all day long, doesn't bother me one bit but what I cringe at is when huge bugs or something similar, comes slithering out of their mouth, eyes and ears....oh hell no with that!!! I'm not sure about the "slice and dice", but the intensity bothers me. There is one thing in the slice and' dice section that does kind of bother me, that's when they poke sharp items into eyes...that's a little gross...but those critters that eat from the inside then slither out....all creepy crawly...eww. :o Edit:After checking out the action figures/dolls, I'm creeped out by some of them. Missing limbs creeps me out! Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: kitty27 on April 04, 2008, 08:11:04 AM I'm still haunted by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the 2003 remake. Even R. I have the DVD and I rarely watch it. Something about it is just too much.Anyone else haunted by it? I have the DVD and I rarely watch it. Something about it is just too much. I read on IMDB.com it's tamer than Hostel. And I don't wanna see Hostel! Quote Yes it would be a gorier film than the original but still when compared to the likes of Saw and Hostel it comes of as rather tame. We see more shots of Leatherface working with the bodies of his victims and the actual killings boast more blood and arterial sprays than the 70's version. Still in todays gore porn world it's nothing especially shocking. This last quote comes from IMDB.com.Edit:Wednesday, May, 28, I'm now interested in seeing Hostel. Also, there are some really creepy Leatherface dolls out there. Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: pfeenix on October 04, 2008, 06:57:27 AM Yeah...as I posted in another thread, the only thing I cant stand is heel slicing...that gets me every time.
Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: Nny on October 04, 2008, 06:16:38 PM I met R. Lee Ermey at a car show in Indiana. He said:
Jack Black is a bad kisser. The Jeep sank on the first time they tried to float it across the water on Mail Call. And that when he was in the service he used to machine ashtrays and bend and adhere small foreign coins to the grooves that hold the cigarette or cigar. I thought that was cool, because I was telling him I wanted to be a machinist. I had nothing for him to sign in my pocket except for a piece of paper that I kept in my wallet. It was basically a will. I convinced R. Lee Ermey to sign my will....... :p Seriously -John Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: Fulgrim on October 07, 2008, 07:47:44 AM Anything to do with eyes...as an artist I'm totally dependent on my eyes and my biggest nightmare is losing my sight.
I one had a branch slapped in my eye (school bullies...cute) and it slightly damaged my cornea causing a nice infection. It hurted like hell, both the "accident" and the doctors messing around with it so that probably also has something to do with it. I'm traumatized ;D Nothing else really grosses me out; I have seen enough real-life things that are far worse. I even watch surgeries because I think it's interesting but as soon as there's an eye-surgery on I run out of the room. :o Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: whitewolf on October 07, 2008, 05:35:15 PM For some reason the movie, The Grudge, gives me the major creeps. I saw that movie in the theater and it scared me half to death. I can basically watch every other kind of horror movie without getting sick to my stomach tho.

I saw that movie in the theater and it scared me half to death. I can basically watch every other kind of horror movie without getting sick to my stomach tho. Lol...Ironically The Grudge creeped me out when I watched it too...for a little while. Then as I started getting suspicious of creaking boards, and anything resembling the sound of movement in our house I came to a realization which made me laugh...and entirely forget the movie. I haven't been in that house, I've never been to Japan, and I'm about 98% possitive my house isn't haunted. ;) Made me feel a lot better. hehehe As far as things in movies grossing me out...I've found I'm not too found of the scene in Final Destination 3 when the girl shoots herself multiple times in the head with a nail gun. Since I nearly shot myself with one (accidently of course) when I was younger...power tools just don't agree with me. Z Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: FireintheNight on October 16, 2008, 11:25:45 AM I hate killer dolls. I refuse to watch any of the "Chucky" movies. It creeps me out which if is funny because I have a doll the looks like it would kill you if given the chance. He's an Asian ball-jointed doll and if you've never seen one you can take out their eyes and change them and also take off their wigs and change those, too. We used to have porcelain dolls on a stand outside my window and I'd dream about them watching me and I wouldn't be able to kill them. -shiver- Anyway I hate dolls...

Ever see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 remake? I lost my lunch on that one. Then, I ate afterwards, go figure!Title: Re: The Heebie-Jeebies Post by: BlackheartBabe on December 20, 2008, 09:20:43 PM I love scary movies. I have nothing against gore, twisted mindgames, torture, bloodbaths.
However... I'm creeped out by the disjointed movements of dead things in movies. Like, it almost emphasizes the "wrongness" of the situation. For example, How the Grudge chick moves/The ring girl/ The things in Silent hill that are just to weird to categorize. Still... I like how it creeps me out. lol. I'm just derranged. :P |
