Title: Best vampire video game Post by: Immoliate on May 31, 2007, 08:17:00 PM It's a vampire site, so let's find out what the best vampire video game of all time is shall we? I'm saying it's Castlevania: Symphony of the night. Not only do you get to be a vampire (er...half vampire) but you get to fight a wide array of occult creatures from zombies to really hot succubi. And in the end you get to fight with Dracula himself, what could be better? No. Really. Tell me. What's better? That's the point of this topic genius.
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: LesDuane on May 31, 2007, 08:33:28 PM Call me weird, loser or whatever but I am in love with the Legacy of Kain Series.... Not only are you a vampire but you are the[ vampire... Then the follow ups with the Soul Reavers... a sort of vampire among vampires... ahh tis greatness indeed
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Funeral Moon on May 31, 2007, 08:54:10 PM Ugh! You both brought up my two favorites! Castlevania and Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver. Hmmm...I think if I had to pick one, I'd pick Soul Reaver. Like you said LesDuane, you are the vampire.
There's a lot of other vampire games I want to play but haven't yet...looking forward to other responses. Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Erych on June 01, 2007, 03:06:01 AM VtM: Bloodlines was pretty good, as it's simple to play and you get an assortment of powers depending on what clan you pick. From the perspective of people who actually roleplay VtM they undoubtedly feel that there could have been more clans, and the option to play as the Sabbat.
It's better than VtM:Redemption, and instead of playing a party of three you simply play one main character. I beat it and enjoyed it, and even began playing it a second time with a differant clan, and trying to take a differant approach to it. There use to be a fun mod for Half-Life that was simplyed called Vampire Slayer, and that was pretty entertaining. It was a stricly online thing though, but you could play as either the vampires or slayers, each team had it's specific character/class types so it kept things interesting.. I have no idea if it still exists. Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Duir on June 01, 2007, 04:06:07 AM Well I haven't played any of the games you have mentioned. My favourite vampire game is BloodRayne 1 and 2. I am actually still playing the second one. You get to be an incredibly sexy female dhampire (half vampire, half human) who hunts down the Nazis (mainly in the first one) and the vampires (mainly the second one). It is sort of very bloody - you can slice up your enemies and then watch the blood spray all over the place - but that's what I like the most... ;D
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: gwr2004 on July 09, 2007, 01:47:46 AM VtM: Bloodlines was pretty good... Sure, VtMB was good, if you disregard all of the bugs in it. I guess that's what happens when you release a game too early... oops. I personally liked Redempton better; sure, it's a bit more complicated to control more than one character, but I didn't get bluescreened, either. Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Akashari on July 09, 2007, 11:27:05 AM As far as games I played, I will have to say Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. My only complaint on that game was that the "best" ending seemed a bit abrupt in the dialogue, and you really did not interact with Maria Renard enough, I did not think, to deserve the line: "I cannot just let him disappear out of my life." It seemed... over dramatic, in my eyes. I also do not remember seeing anything that happened afterward to justify it. But other than that, I did enjoy the play, trying to unlock everything, etc.
I heard a lot of positive things about Vampire: Bloodlines. I just have not gotten around to buying it. Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: LukastheReal on August 15, 2007, 11:37:58 AM Yeah, I played LoK: Defiance (in czech periodic Level as Full game 3 months ago), nice game, nice tale, nice graphic engine. I read reviews in many of our game periodicals, they rated it very well. I am in 9th level now.
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: moridin on August 18, 2007, 04:10:14 PM I think Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver has to be the best installment in the series, and it is a pretty good vampire game.
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Kath on August 21, 2007, 06:22:20 PM I'll go with Bloodrayne 1 and 2, but only because I haven't played these other games yet. (time to go to best buy 8) )
You know what would really be fun? a vampire rpg/fps blend based on the 'Hellsing' anime genre. Kath Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Rasard on March 16, 2008, 02:48:04 AM My vote goes for the LoK series - from Blood Omen to Defiance, I love the thematic directions it takes, the epic scale, the creativity, etc... for me, the series is off the charts. I accord it my 'Favorite Series Ever' stamp of approval, lol. Within it, Defiance is my favorite, mainly because I love seeing all the threads come together and you finally get a sense of the magnitude of what Kain's been trying to accomplish, and Raziel's knight-errant shtick and the sacrifice.. whee!
Bloodlines comes a pretty decent second; though it would be great if WW gathered the resources to bring Requiem to an online MMO stage. Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: TheRadiantSeraphim on March 16, 2008, 12:12:24 PM My votes go toward Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I have not played the Bloodrayne series, but have watched the movies. I am personally not too interested in anymore dhampir-oriented vampire games. It seems to be a common trend in video games and even books (I limit the books I buy on dhampirs as a result).
Sincerely, TheRadiantSeraphim Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: mickfreak3524 on March 17, 2008, 02:18:08 AM I would have to say the BloodRayne 1&2, Vampire the Masqurade: Bloodlines.
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Lyconyx on May 28, 2008, 04:15:59 AM VtM: Bloodlines was pretty good... Sure, VtMB was good, if you disregard all of the bugs in it. Patch patch and unofficial patch sorts out the worst of it I find its fine except for the one big crash that has a 50/50 chance of happening (when you leave the hunter's cave by boat). VtM:Bloodlines has my vote that or Morrowind with the Vampire Embrace and Vampiric Hunger mods Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Erych on June 02, 2008, 08:29:54 PM I actually didn't have any crashing issues, but that was probably due to the patches.
Speaking of Elder Scrolls though, the vampire option in Oblivion wasn't bad, the skin tone however was kind of unpleasent since if you made your original character pale you ended up turning peach once you were turned. Yeah getting mods and other stuff can help, but I found that to be a huge hassel. I didn't like the fact that you end up ugly at all at least in morrowind it was easily modded so you were a good looking vamp, plus there isnt enough to do when you're a vamp though being one and being in the hunters order in the Imperial City is kinda fun. Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Spurn on July 05, 2008, 04:23:05 PM To be honest, no vampire game has blown me away, ever.
Too bad, really. I would love to find a good vampire game. RPG or something in that category. Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Fulgrim on July 05, 2008, 08:58:06 PM Legacy of Kain series hands down. The fact that the vampires are actually an ancient race that was cursed is also a coolness factor. The story behind it is just amazing and Kain is a really cool character (I really don't like Raziel so SR1 and 2 were hard on me).
Even though the series died after Defiance I'm still one of those fans that keep on loving it. I actually played the entire series in a sort of marathon last year. ::) Fanboy... I'm also a big fan of The Elder Scrolls but I really disliked being a vampire in Oblivion, at least in Morrowind you has some vampire-only quests with some very cool items. Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Broken Soul on July 06, 2008, 07:17:08 AM LoK for me to kain is the best I like it so much I have a kain and raziel models at home ( I'm sad I know)
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Fulgrim on July 08, 2008, 08:28:19 AM I like it so much I have a kain and raziel models at home ( I'm sad I know) *raises hand* guilty! I have a Kain action-figure...now please stop staring and leave me alone. Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: bloodlover on August 04, 2008, 07:27:29 AM Legacy of Kain is my answer. Awesome story and a good gameplay (except the last part, the camera sucked big time). If anyone played the game "Sacred" , there is a vampire class you can pick, and you have appropriate skills like vampire transformation (you even get damage from day light), summon bats and wolfs, blood kiss etc. Bloodrayne was boring, very boring, and Vtm: Bloodlines was kind of easy. I also played Castelvania and Blade: The game on playstation 1.
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: moridin on August 04, 2008, 04:41:10 PM Legacy of Kain for me, one of the best series I ever played, and raziel is awesome.
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Art on November 02, 2008, 03:31:37 PM I'd have to vote for Legacy of Kain. I played it so many times
and I know most of the conversations by heart ;D Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: B. I. Flight on November 04, 2008, 12:47:41 PM I'm glad to see some other folks in here that love the Blood Rayne franchise. I've been a big fan of Terminal Reality's work for a long while, starting with Nocturne way back in the '90's (my sig. file on my own site, for months, has been a link to a youtube post of a Nocturne trailor).
I found the first Blood Rayne to be exceptionally atmospheric and immersive. When you play that game, you *really* are running around in the dark with nasty things jumping out at you. Oh, and you get to carve up Nazis. Admittedly, the controls of the game, as with Nocturne, were...not of the standard they could have been, but I found the sheer ambience of the game made up for this. Blood Rayne II went the completely opposite direction. The story is much shallower and has a contemporary setting, but the gameplay is much improved, following the tack of modern games in having long lists of combos, fatalities, unlockable powers and moves, and so on. As for other games, I've played a gamut I liked. I never got to play Bloodlines, but Redemption was fun and had nice atmostphere. I also thought that, while the comic relief moments in that game very *very* few and far between, to this day some of them stand out in my mind as favorite gags because they were so well-done. A friend of mine has introduced me to the Soul Reaver series, which is pretty darn cool. Beyond that, I'd just be raving for a while. :) Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Nny on November 04, 2008, 12:54:17 PM I LOVE Bloodrayne.
I saw the first glimpse of it in a Game Informer well before the game came out. I told my mom about it (it was a long time ago) and she agreed that I HAD to have it. lol I told her the premise of the game was "Scantily-Clad Half-Vampire Killing Nazi-Zombies with Demon Powers." I still don't think there could be a better tagline. The gameplay wasn't the best, but the game was awesome. The movies were horrible, but I still have them, and if I didn't have to work I would have driven the 50 miles to see it in theaters. The second game's engine was great, but I couldn't get into the storyline. I am still mad that someone stole my copy. :'( My .02 cents. -John Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: B. I. Flight on November 04, 2008, 01:45:42 PM Someone stole your BR game? That's terrible. :(
The good news is, the game is so old you should be able to find it in a bargain bin somewhere for pocket change, if that helps. Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: vinny on December 10, 2008, 12:50:39 AM Oblivion very good vampire game on the 360 it one of the best games I ever own and played.
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: Pale_moon on December 20, 2008, 01:41:50 PM I'd say VTM:Bloodlines maybe redemption although LoK is a great game too.
Title: Re: Best vampire video game Post by: kenny on December 28, 2008, 04:57:05 AM Dark watch is my favorite because you go from a human to a vampire. You have to earn the human's trust and you get to save them most the time so they owe you. You get to fight an wide array of mythological creatures. if you want to know what they are play the game (PS2).
