Bach.

Don't care for many of the composers after Beethoven. Discordance and such.

Boring.

I think for Myself, Mozarts Eine kleine Nachtmusik (A little night music, 1787) is My favorite. followed closely by Beethovens Symphony 5  first movement(1810).  It woudl be hard really, to decide truly between either Musical Genius, or many others that I cannot name right now. So much classical music is entwined within My head, and so many I cannot name, it gets rather bothersome at times.  I wonder tho, if they were about today, how different music would be.

I'm not a big listener of classical music (read: have never listened Grin). From what people are saying, perhaps I should endeavour to listen to some Beethoven...

I like both, but Beethoven has a little more to offer than Mozart in my opinion. I have always enjoyed Beethoven regardless of mood or situation.

I prefer Mozart to Beethoven, simply because I feel that some of Beethoven's music is entirely too overplayed on commercial radio (not that some of Mozart's music isn't either - nor am I saying that I don't like Beethoven as a composer - I do, I just don't like the overplayed songs like Für Elise or parts of his 5th Symphony).

Yeah, they are kind of over played, but it's beautiful none the less, don't you agree? That's partially why I stopped listening to the radio. The ruining of a song is not cool.

Beethoven...and even though it's one of his most played pieces, I still and always will love Moonlight Sonata. I loved Gary Oldman portraying him in "Immortal Beloved". After Beethoven I love Bach, Vivaldi and Albinoni. Mozart's music never particularly appealed to me for some reason (I know, that's probably horrible of me to say!).

Both are great, well thats what I think.  Neither of them made me want to stab my ear drums out with a pencil, so yep I think in 50 years from now they will still rock!!! Cool

While both are great, it's Beethoven for me. As was said above, his compositions are darker and have more depth. I feel myself much more drawn in by his pieces than I do by Mozart's.
However, I do have to agree that some of his music is most certainly overplayed.

Chopin has always been a favourite of mine, particularly Op 28 No 4 Prelude in E minor and Op 15 No 3 Nocturne in G minor.

I used to identify to Beethoven's music, as well as his life, quite a lot growing up. The Moonlight Sonata was really strong symbolism for what I felt about my life for a long time growing up. I didn't have much of a father just like he didn't have much of a father.

But today I count my blessings. I am stronger than most people in some ways, even though I am not without my weakness, I have overcome my adversity. Today I don't really identify with Beethoven anymore, but I still can't stop listening to his wonderful music.

I'll admit I am not very good with names as far as classical music is concerned. My friends are all more aware of the names and titles than I am, so I rely on them a lot because I can be rather forgetful sometimes. I honestly couldn't be like schwarznacht and name you something specific, but I like to think that I am into a little bit of everything, and that tends to make up for my ignorance.  Smilewinkgrin lol
