So, I know that poll is a little crazy, but it is a lead in to what I would like to ask/talk about.

All the vamps that I personally know have at least two souls in them, myself included. To start with, at least with us, everyone that has had past lives has two souls. These two souls are called the original soul and the buffer soul. The original soul is the soul that retains all memories and personality through until you decide not to come back. The buffer soul is the soul that grows up in this life time. The one that most people enact with; this soul also filters emotions from the original soul. The buffer has to filter emotions because the original feels emotions so strong.

This is the part that I do not know much about. To set this up, my original soul's mate is what I have been told is called a base soul. The reason being that he can come out to where people will believe that a person is his species rather than what that person is. I have also heard of what is called a 'shadow'. This is a deity of some kind that has decided to live in a person's mind.

My questions are:

Has anyone heard of this before?
What other types of souls has anyone ever heard of?
Is there anything else apart from MPD that could explain this?

Maybe not entirely compatible with your situation but there is a new and rapidly growing "multiple community" in where people claim to have more souls than one or even are a system of hundreds.

I first thought it was classical MPD/DID but after talking to them I had to agree it was clearly something different. Some of them do not lack the typical memory-loss or aren't even trauma-based.
Being the skeptic I am I used to think they were just living out a fun fantasy because most of them also claim fictional characters, aliens and god knows what as their 'soul mates' (for lack of a better term).
It wasn't until I actually met one that I began to question if there wasn't indeed something different about them.
I cannot really place it but you definitely sense it when someone else 'fronts' (that's how they call it when another takes over their body). I'm still not sure whether they truly are a system or just one person with a yet unexplained ability.

Honestly, I read this post and the first thought that came to mind was..."We are Legion, for we are many".   

I don't really think I am grasping the full measure of what you are trying to say here.  If I understand what I am reading then some people believe that more than one soul can inhabit the body and actually interact conscious of one another?  If that is the case then it rules out MPD.  Every case of MPD I have ever heard of has been such that the seperate personalities were aware of the host but the host was not aware of the personalites that had split from the original.  Least to my understanding that's how it works.

As for a deity or shadow that lives in the mind...sounds somewhat like demonic possession and I, having a fond dislike for pea soup, steer clear of such.   

Mir, I believe the OP (Original Poster)'s point included the possibility for more than two souls.

I'll have to find my book to tell who whose theory this is, but there is a theory that we are of multiple consciousnesses, for lack of a better term.

The belief is that we have our physical consciousness, then our spiritual, then our soul, and this all acts like a filter. Your soul knows everything that has gone on since its existence. Your Spirit has several lifetimes of information stored, but not all of them, and your physical life has only that much knowledge or information. It recycles after one lifetime (obviously), your Spirit recycles after a series of lifetimes (don't remember if a number was specified) and your Soul recycles only when it is able to reunite with the Source of Life.

This is probably either a Kabbalah belief or based off of them, as this theory was spoken of in the book for the Witch's Tarot deck, which focuses on how the Major Arcana of the deck relate to the paths of the Tree of Life.

To me that sounds like the "higher self" and "lower self" concept.  The higher self retains the memories and the lower self is the consciousness that the person experiences first hand in individual life times.  Personally I've never heard of vampires having two souls in them and I can't personally say I agree with that concept.  Just my opinion though.

Guess I jumped the gun in my last answer.  No I have never heard of that before and I don't personally believe that could qualify as MPD.

On a personal level it seems we have only one soul.  Also the past is constantly revealed to us.  But awareness that the past is being revealed is sometimes disguised.  At different, non-predictable, times I believe we can interact with other souls.

Personally I have never heard such a theory. I did encounter people being possessed by whatever it may be, or having within them various entities that they could interact with it seems.

After writing that, I would have to say no. I do not believe in such a thing, though I don't think it is "impossible". Cause in my view, nothing is.

From what I saw so far, and can vouch for, is that we each get one. Just one. But its all we need.

If its a search for individuality or being greater then others then there is no need for that in my view. Cause we are all unique and have our up's and down's, gifts and preferences, and views of our reality and world. Its enough to make anyone better or worse then someone else by many standards (depending on the one making the judgments).

To be a vampyre, I would say you only need a lack of energy. That's it. Then go look for it in other places where there is more. Never heard of vamps that have two souls and that being something that makes them have this lack and be in such a condition. If you think about it logically, then having two souls would give you an abundance of energy(of course considering that in my personal view that is our inner source for each individual) unlike people with one. So that in itself already contradicts in my mind.

I personally did not choose any options in the poll since it was very limited. Other then that, those are my thoughts on the matter.

Just thought that I would add something to this topic...There is a theory out there that speaks of this ideal of having multiple souls and its called Twin SOULS.  This theory speaks of souls having identical halfs to be eventually reunited throughout many lifetimes but that does not really speak of really having 2 souls within one human body on one lifetime....BUT It sort of hits on this ideal though, I think that do to there being many many very different souls out there that it would seem to make sense to me that one person can inhabit two souls...In fact I know so....you see I carry many souls within me.  There is an old one that rarely speaks and then there's what I call my Fairie soul she is frequently there, I think that what people call personalities are actually souls...We are the proof the souls are re-used,why is it so hard to believe the we carry many old and new souls with us?? 

And on the question that one cannot be a vampire and carry two souls...I wonder, with the up most of respect, why not?  I think that some souls like some people are opposites of each other and in theory, if there is too many conflicting souls within one person they could cause an energy deficiency, thus vampirism.
