Christmas Music!

Christmas Music!

New postby Arya Kalarathri » Tue Nov 03, 2009 11:54 pm

I am sitting here, listening to Enya's new tracks. At risk of painting a target on myself, I think I like listening to remakes of Christmas classics, regardless of the debate on where Christmas originated. I even welcome new Christmas songs. Regardless of the bad rap Christianity often gets in other religions and alternative lifestyles, I think they still contributed some good music.

Yes, a Hindu liking Christmas music or even Christian music. Go ahead and laugh at it. I certainly am.

Sincerely,

I very much enjoy listening to Enya, though I like her older stuff more than I do here newer material. I have not bought her Christmas Album (not Loreena McKennitt's, who I am also a fan of). I tend to be a more traditinoalist when it comes to Christmas music. I grew up with mom playing Gene Autry and Andy Williams. I just have a hard time listening to contemporary artist do updated versions. It rattles me, go figure.

Say, I don't think it is overly crazy for a Hindu to listen to Christmas tunes. It is no weirder than Streisand, Barry Manilow, or Neil Diamond (all Jewish) putting out Christmas albums!

I positively absolutely love Christmas music. And I agree ShadowMind, I tend to be a traditionalist too. It is sometimes difficult for me to listen to newer artists perform Christmas music. I too grew up listening to Gene Autry, Andy Williams, Steve and Eydie, Barbara Streisand, Arthur Fieldler, just to name a few.

My mother and father started playing Christmas music right after Thanksgiving. And with my father being a record collector, Christmas music was a must in my parents home. And even now if I could I would play it all year round. :)
Here lies the hoarded love the key
To All the treasure that shall be
Come fated heart the gift to take
And smite the sleeping world awake. (William Morris)
