Children and crows.

I've always wondered why children stare at me and want me to read things, saying I'm their big friend. Though I have not spoke to them, kinda weird,I'm very bad at kids. But they keep on looking a me and when I smile they smile. I don't know if it is normal, just kinda funny. Crows keep on following me everywhere too. If I'm going to school there is always atleast one crow flying with me. Then when I am at school I chill out and then I see the crow staring at me in the tree. I usually make a very high scream(inwards) and that freaks them out, because they freak my out lol.

Interesting, Phytas. It could be something like why people who don't like cats say that they are the first person the cat will go to and jump in their lap. I read somewhere that this is because cats consider it rude if another animal greets them first. They believe it is their right to be the first to reach out to another animal. It could be the same with you and children. You ignore them, or try to, and they consider you to be safe, not the type to fall all over them with cutesie words and actions. And you're not alone with this either; I am not particularly fond of children myself. And guess what? In a crowded room I'm the first person they go to!

How lucky you are to attract the crows! I love the little critters. After all, a species of crow, the raven, has guarded the Tower Of London for hundreds of years. Don't let them freak you out. They're beautiful and just a part of nature, not anything sinister. I envy you!

Now this made me laugh quite a bit. It is quite true. My wife is the cat person. We had 10 at one point, but attrition has brought the number down to 7 at present. I have noted that my friends that are allergic (generally mildly) are immediately accosted by them. I don't like them in my lap(I don't mind them around me), but several of them are very insistent that my lap is the only place that will adequately serve for their repose.

They also often say to me that it wouldn't hurt if I could spend the rest of eternity fawning on them as well.

Cats. Go figure.

This thread reminds me of a time when I was in a women's shelter for volunteer work. A child came up to me and looked up at me with starry eyes, catching me by surprise. The words? "Are you here to stay?"

I do not normally deal with children, and I had no intentions of dealing with them in a place... so I had to think of a way to tell the child what I was doing in the shelter... It is stunning how something so simple could be so complicated.

Sometimes, I think children can sense vibes more than adults can, and they pick up those vibes. At times it may not be realized by them or those they approach, but I think they really have a stronger empathic bond only a handful of adults can admit to having. Thinking about this really makes me wonder if there is more beneath the surface in the adage, "Have you found your inner child?"

Sincerely,

There was a paranormal case years back in which crows kept following, and appearing around one of the people involved. It is believed the crows were there as guardians for the individual.

It is quite common to see a murder of crows in my backyard, sometimes as many as sixty...at times even more. I find their sounds to be quite calming and have always felt protected under their watch.

Years ago I befriended a crow that resided outside my workplace. He would wait for me at lunchtime and after work, greeting me with a hello and escorting me to my car nightly. My co-workers would always be amazed and would tell me that they wouldn't have believed me had they not seen it with their own eyes.

I could relay many a tale but the one that sticks with me the most is the one I'd like to share with all of you. Several of you know that I work in a mall. On my lunch hour I will quite often do a walk around the outside perimeter to get fresh air and essentially regroup before commencing the rest of my work day. A few months ago, as I was doing the usual walk, I heard a crow cawwing from the rooftop. I stopped and was looking upwards when a small boy of maybe 3 or 4 years old bolted towards me and began tugging at my arm. "That's my mom", the little boy said pointing to the crow. Completely stunned by his comment I replied back that it was a crow and what a wonderful creature it was. Again he persisted, "that's my mom". I looked around and noticed a lady standing nearby, watching the little boy. Seeing the perplexed look on my face she said "the crow is his mom". Instant sadness fell over me as I replied, "she's watching over her son" to which the lady nodded. I thanked the little boy for introducing me to his mom, wished him well and then off he went skipping into the mall entrance with the lady. I stood there for a few more minutes, in awe of what I just experienced, saw the crow fly away and then continued on my walk.

Why that little boy chose to share that moment with me is something I will probably never fully grasp. It could be said that it was because I happened to be looking up at just the right moment or it could have been something far beyond simple explanation. Whatever it's reason, it is hard for me to recall this and not feel all that emotion flooding back. So due to that I will end my reply and leave it to all of you to interpret as you wish. :)

That's such a sad story, Nyb. That must have affected you very deeply. Crows have always held a certain magic to me. All through my life I would have one follow me at certain times just before something important was about to change in my life. Often it was something painful.

And I know this will come across as a strange tale, but I saw it, whether it was real or not. Once years back, I was laying beside a pool. I heard a crow caw and looked up into this tree and there was a crow sure enough. But it was larger than the largest eagle or hawk. In other words it was an impossibility. Some say maybe it was a hawk, but I don't know any hawks that look 100% like a crow. It was an odd experience. Somehow I didn't feel it was part of the 'physical' world. I read a book years later (I forget the name) of a boy who saw the same thing. He even got a picture of it. I was so amazed someone else had the same experience.

Great posting! I haven't had any experiences with crows, but with other animals, it is almost like a six sense. Thank all of you guys for sharing. :)
